A slow blast from the near past.

So... the last post pretty much said nothing about my life here, other than missing National Day.

Here's the entry proper. What i really wanted to say the last time was that I was living one occasion everyday. On the seventh was the Chinese Valentine's Day, which on the lunar calendar was the 7th of July, when it was technically the 7th of August. Nothing much for me that day, couldn't even talk to my girlfriend.

On the eighth was the Beijing Olympics opening, and incidentally i had work so i totally missed it. Not that it was a big deal for me because i don't watch TV and i never was a big sports fan. I always miss World Cups, Superbowls, Premier Leagues and Olympics. The only thing that i have more interest in is maybe the X Games. That's just me i guess. Also, this day was the day when the other overseas interns officially end their attachment so i guess that struck me as more significant. I was envious really, that they could return to Singapore already, while i was still stuck here with the erratic weather of Hohhot. By the way, the temperature these few days fell back to 21 degree Celsius from 29. Fucking insane i tell you.

By the time i get back i'll be pretty much weather-proof. Like a camping tent.

On the ninth was Singapore's National Day, and i was still working. Didn't catch any live telecasts over the net though i heard that other than the Black Knights and the fireworks it was pretty much, you know, dull like every year. Not that China has an lack of fireworks, they get a go at it almost every week, and plus there's the damn noisy firecrackers, at every - single - wedding. pfft, but i wouldn't mind catching the Singapore Fireworks Festival, not that i'll be back in time for it.

Sigh.

Yesterday (the fifteenth for those of you who are clueless about the date today,) was the start of the Chinese Ghost Festival. Not that i'm fearful or something, i'm just respectful. And yet i still stayed out till about 1.30 a.m. at a local karaoke. They're almost as superstitious as we are back in Singapore, at least from what i see and hear.

Finally, to end this post on a very positive and shiny note, my last working day is on the 29th of August! I might or might not drop by Beijing for a bit of shopping and photography, but i'll be back in time for my 24th birthday. I'm hoping hard for this. I still need to buy a bunch of gifts for friends back in Singapore, and i'm looking forward to shopping!

Actually this OIAP has really been good to me, and i mean to say it outside of the scope of the benefits of OIAP. Just before my OIAP i had enough days to go for NPSU FOC, and right after that, i have enough days of clearance to go for Challengers!

Its almost like if you hope hard enough for something, it just might come true. Or Mathiaus is just a lucky dog. I'd like to believe both sentences are true.

Happy National Day.

Man it sucks to be in a foreign country when its a public holiday back home.

Especially so when its me.

I am the sun in a solar system.

Me me me.

Okay i'll blog later when i'm more sane.

I feel swamped with people.

There's a six hundred people meeting in the hotel today and there are people everywhere. Teeming, thronging, multitudes upon multitudes of people. I'm at the lobby bar and i'm surrounded by noise, a wall of noise that threatens to swallow my sanity every passing moment.

Perhaps i'll retreat back into the office.

A Bonus out of the Blue

A sudden bonanza! 2 posts in one day! Now that's a rare sight for sore eyes.

Some random things that i wanna shout out to cyberspace (sometimes i get into a mood like that) :

I have less than 2 RMB left in my phone account, but i'll be topping up like a hundred bucks tomorrow. I've been calling Singapore way too much. I've been calling Singapore "spore" online. My dad's in China now, and like, he'll be coming to Hohhot in about 2 weeks! To think i thought i won't see any familiar faces when i'm here. I saw both my parents, and a group of course-mates over at Shanghai. We had a good time. I had a bad experience with a certain Shanghai taxi. Its my girlfriend's birthday today. I'm sorry i can't be there physically, but i'm always thinking of her.

Happy Eighteenth Birthday Aniszah! Remember to register for your Basic Theory Test on Monday (which incidentally, is tomorrow) I left you a reminder on Friendster!

Okay that's enough verbal diarrhoea for one day.

Flush.

Next and Final Stop: The Jade Vine Restaurant

Hello once again, good-looking and fine readers. Its a bright afternoon. Too bright for the writer's liking. Just like how I dislike referring to myself in third-person. The intensity of the sun is different from what i'm used to. They say Inner Mongolia is located on high grounds, surrounded by land all around, very much different from Singapore, don't you think? The heat here is stifling, and you know what's the weird thing?

You never ever sweat. The air just wicks it all away. This land is moisture-deprived i tell you.

Enough about the balmy weather already. I'm currently serving at my final station within the department. The Chinese restaurant and it ain't too bad. I'm guessing its the feeling that i'm heading back to Singapore soon that sets my head on straight again. Sometimes when you're overseas and you know, sometimes we're all surrounded by idiots, home will somehow emerge in the mind's eye.

But that's just being opinionated, and subjective. Unfair to judge, some might say. Haha, tough luck then, my view is mine alone, and if that offends you, hey, fuck you. I'm not the nicest person around and i don't feel an overwhelming need to please every single tom, dick, harry, jane, alice, and valarie i meet. I can be an ass, and i know it.

Get your viewpoint straight, maybe that will help pull our head out of your ass. There's 2 sides to everything, so let's sit down and talk it out. I simply do not bother with unreasonable/rude requests. Because i realise understanding others is much easier said than done.

I'm going to do a bunch of fun stuff when i'm back in Singapore, where i can hang out with some pretty fun people i'm alright with and that's the way things are going to be. Now till the next time i decide to discharge my emotional tank, bye!
